Let’s Talk About Integrating
In reflecting upon recent client conversations, it became crystal clear that one benefit of our work is the self-awareness gained by leaders. This is especially important to organizations that have strong Visionary/Integrator partnerships, as by definition, these roles require different instincts and skill sets.
If you follow the blog closely, you know that we recently highlighted the Visionary. This month, we will switch our attention towards the Integrator in an effort to further understand this role.
What is an Integrator?
According to the blog, an integrator “is the glue for the organization, holds everything together, beats the drum (provides cadence), is accountable for the P&L results, executes the business plan, holds the Leadership Team accountable, and is the steady force in the organization.”
Essentially, the integrator is the driving force of the day to day operation.
With this in mind, it’s important for integrators to identify and understand the true talents and instincts of their teams; ultimately leading their teams from a position of self/team awareness.
The cold hard truth
The Harvard Business Review presents the most desirable qualities of a transformational leader, which has been shown to improve business quality and success. These qualities should be understand and invested upon by today’s leaders; especially today’s Integrators.
A few qualities include:
They change the business' culture to engage employees.
They relay powerful narratives that envision the future of the business.
They prepare for times of difficulty from the beginning.
You see, the cold hard truth is this: When Integrators - and their organizations - invest in becoming more self/team aware, culture is built, stories are controlled and empowered, and the proverbial ships travel through rough waters with ease.
In other words, businesses are more productive.
Want to be better?
Regarding the untold potential of your business, it’s time to transform. Today’s businesses demand a new type of Integrator. One that understands his or her self, leads their team with synergy and effectiveness, expands on that team with intentionality, and ultimately values the human instincts that make up the very reason we have positions like visionary and integrator in the first place.
To transform your business you must understand and cultivate your people.
